The Lodge address is well signposted at 35 Fiddlers Hill Road Puhoi, (40km north of Auckland and 2km off State Highway 1). ![]() The lodge has two fully self-contained units sleeping up to six or more people per night. Both units have separate on suites, kitchens, decks and use of BBQ (plus Pizza Oven) facilities. Both share a wooden hot tub, (wood fired) set amongst the adjacent Kauri forest, use of the long house entertainment area and a large (six person) spa pool. Kauriglen specialises in looking after larger groups, families, corporate retreats and seminars with weddings a specialty. The Lodge fully provides for all visitor’s accommodation, dining and entertainment needs. |

The Kauriglen Lodge, Puhoi’s Only Country Lodge is hosted by a friendly live-in local “Larry” and his many friends-helpers. The lovely country setting is amongst forest (native bush) and grasslands with sheep, cattle, goats and native birds for company.
The peace and serenity of the accommodation and its easy access by foot or car to the delightful little village make this a very special place. One of the very few remaining huge Kauri Trees sits just by your window. Ask Larry also to tell you about the special spiritual Tangata Whenua connections if you are interested.
The adjoining all weather indoor-outdoor Ol’ Tin Shed restaurant and Long House (fair weather) entertainment areas provide dinner table (swamp Kauri) seating for up to sixteen. All breakfasts and meals can be provided by prior arrangement. A local professional chef for special occasions can supply fine dining or more basic fare of pizzas and BBQ’s can be catered for.

Decks at both levels for each unit give expansive views of the valley and adjacent protected native bush.

Enjoy the delights of the village, the Historic Pub, Church, Bohemian Settlers Museum, the River Park walk, Devonshire Teas, the Art of Cheese cafe to see the famous Puhoi Cheese being made through the viewing windows or paddle the Puhoi River in a canoe. Walk the nearby tracks just behind your unit, view the bush, the birds and by arrangement the Glowworm Grotto. A fairyland of glowing lights plus native koura (tiny crayfish) and trout to see and the Twin Moreporks (Ruru) if you are lucky.
